Loveland Opera Theatre – Loveland Chamber of Commerce Investor of the Month

Hello fellow Chamber of Commerce Investors!  Loveland Opera Theatre (LOT) is very honored to be chosen as the Investor of the Month for July!  LOT was founded in 2005 by Juliana Hoch, (a Colorado native) with $500 and a dream.  LOT was created for the purpose of bringing opera to the hearts and minds of all.  LOT continues to nurture young Colorado singers to help them develop their performing talents and to give singers in our area a place to sing, learn and grow.  Many of LOT’s former singers have gone on to perform in major opera houses around the world including the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna Staatsoper, New Jersey Opera, Opera Colorado, Central City Opera, Dallas Opera, and many more.  In addition, LOT is the only opera company in Colorado that hires all Colorado artists for both our onstage and offstage jobs.  Both Juliana (Executive Director and Founder) and Rob Hoch, (President of the LOT Board and performer) have sung professionally in Opera, Oratorio and Music Theater throughout the world for over 40 years.  They met in Ohio at the Blossom Music Festival singing in Don Giovanni by Mozart, when Juliana was based in NYC and Robert was based in Chicago.  After they were married in 1984, they returned to Colorado and Juliana received her DA degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy with an Opera Directing Secondary in 2004. They now share their musical talents and passions by running Loveland Opera Theatre and striving to bring joy to our community through music.  Juliana continues to run a large voice studio in Loveland and enjoys a wide diversity of students of ages 12-80.  In 2020, LOT announced the addition of Tim Kennedy as Artistic Director.  Tim is a professional singer, actor, stage director, voice teacher and Minister of Music at Arvada United Methodist Church.

LOT’s mission is to “tell stories through music for Northern Colorado by creating transformative experiences, and approachable professional performances for our audiences.  LOT commits to advancing artistic excellence and education, attracting new audiences, and engaging and inspiring our diverse communities.  We create artistic and professional employment opportunities for our Colorado arts community”. In 2021, LOT was thrilled to announce a 10-year long program of educating school children on opera in Thompson School District called the Dahlen Educational Outreach Program.  This project will bring touring operas to elementary schools and opportunities for Elementary, Middle and High Schools to come in person to the Rialto Theatre to see operatic performances. The students learn about singing, acting and how opera is created from the standpoint of costumes, set design, stage management and lighting.
