Ft. Collins, Colo. (Dec. 11, 2012) – Windsor and Arthur, two Cavalier Spaniel puppies snooze serenely in their cozy foster home where they will remain until Dec. 15 when they will travel to the Larimer Humane Society shelter to go up for adoption. Placed in foster care until they become big enough for spay/neuter surgeries, these puppies will soon be searching for a permanent home through Larimer Humane Society’s adoption event on Saturday.
“They are incredible,” remarks foster mom Sue Cox. “Easy, sweet, smart and very well-mannered.”
These 4-month-old puppies will be on the adoption floor with dozens of other animals available at the Whisker Wonderland adoption event on Dec. 15. Cats, dogs, small mammals, barnyard and exotic animals are among those for which Larimer Humane Society hopes to find homes.
This free event is open to the public from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Larimer Humane Society shelter and will include fun activities for kids, complimentary gift wrapping, holiday food, caroling and entertainment for the whole family. All adopters will receive a special discount and goodie bag with helpful information and supplies to care for pets. In addition, there will be hourly giveaways every hour with prizes including Larimer Humane Society logo items and animal-themed gifts.
From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Santa will be onsite for commemorative family photos. Animals adopted on Saturday are welcome to sit in the photos with their new families. Guests may also bring gifts to the free gift wrapping station to complete their holiday shopping while kids enjoy the popular “Make Your Own Ornament” station.
Adopters can spin the wheel for a discount of $10 off, $20 off, ½ off, free, or “name your price,” for all cat, dog and small mammal adoptions. From 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., barnyard and exotic animals will also be available for a half-priced adoption fee. There are currently goats, chickens, fish, ferrets and guinea pigs available for adoption.
“With the holidays quickly approaching and many families having time away from work to acclimate a new four-legged family member, it can be the perfect time for many people to think about adopting a pet,” said Judy Calhoun, Executive Director. “We would love nothing more than to have an empty shelter by the turn of the New Year.”
