Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, a two-story, 146,000-square-foot facility, will open as the region’s newest full-service, acute care hospital on April 6. To celebrate, a community open house is scheduled Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors are invited to tour, meet staff, ask questions, win prizes and learn more about this state-of-the-art center.
Situated on 28-acres at 4700 Lady Moon Dr., the $86 million hospital will open with 22 patient beds and three operating rooms, including one devoted to C-section deliveries. Services include emergency care, orthopedics, general surgery, women’s health, labor and delivery, gastroenterology, urology, pulmonology, intensive care and more. In addition to hospitalization services, the campus will include an outpatient Banner Health Center where patients can schedule appointments with physicians in a variety of medical specialties, including pediatrics, cardiology, OB/GYN, general surgery, gastroenterology, urology, neurosurgery and pulmonology.
As part of a pre-approved, 40-year plan, the Banner Fort Collins Medical Center campus is designed to eventually accommodate up to 144 patient beds, two additional patient towers, a parking structure and medical office building.
“After thousands of hours of planning and dedication from countless individuals, it is a privilege to open our doors in Fort Collins,” said Rick Sutton, chief executive officer of Banner Health in Northern Colorado. “Our commitment is to offer premier facilities and services close to where people live, and with Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, we can provide additional award-winning health care options for residents here and in the surrounding community.”
The hospital will be the first in Northern Colorado equipped with TeleAcute Care, a remote monitoring technology that allows expert, off-site nurses to observe real-time vital signs and test results for every patient admitted to the hospital, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This round-the-clock care benefits patients by providing a second layer of support to the hospital nurses and physicians working at the bedside to ensure that potential adverse trends are identified and promptly addressed.
TeleAcute Care is part of an expansive telemedicine program to be offered at Banner Fort Collins Medical Center which includes TeleICU, a remote monitoring for intensive care patients by critical care physicians and expert nurses, and TeleStroke, a partnership with Swedish Medical Center in Denver. TeleStroke provides patients and physicians immediate access to board-certified neurologists affiliated with Swedish who are experts in stroke care. Both TeleICU and TeleStroke are in place at Banner Health’s two other Northern Colorado hospitals: North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley and McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
Telemedicine is part of Banner Health’s ongoing investment in technologies that improve the quality of care and decrease the length of hospital stays. Other initiatives include one of the most advanced electronic medical record systems in the country, a simulation program for clinical training and regionalized laboratory services.
In addition to the latest advancements, Banner Fort Collins Medical Center also features energy-efficient design, natural lighting, Colorado quarried stone, full-service kitchen with dining room, gift shop, a central courtyard and works by local artists. Other highlights include:
Banner Health accepts most major health insurance plans.
Banner Fort Collins Medical Center will be Banner’s fifth hospital in Colorado, joining NCMC, McKee, Sterling Regional MedCenter in Sterling and East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. Banner also provides more than two dozen outpatient Banner Health Clinics and Centers in Northern Colorado, including four in Fort Collins. Healthgrades™, the nationally recognized online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals, recently honored North Colorado Medical Center with the 2015 America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™, the only hospital on the Northern Colorado to receive this designation.
