Corn Roast Grand Marshal

Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival grand marshals are community members who have made a significant impact on the Loveland community. This page lists at the criteria for this prestigious nomination and showcases some of our former grand marshals.

Cindy Mackin, City of Loveland 

Cindy has been in marketing and destination development for over 22 years, with her start in marketing of destination events at outlet malls all over Colorado. Cindy was hired in 2012 by Economic Development to head up their new division, Visit Loveland. Cindy accomplished many “firsts” for the City: establishing a destination brand, tagline, website, social media channels, visitors guide and advertising campaigns, and creating a Visit Loveland strategic plan. She transformed the Visitors Center through a complete remodel and remerchandising plan, hiring additional staff. As a result, sales have increased over 386% and traffic at the Visitors Center has increased 251% in the last 6 years. Cindy, along with her team, was also responsible for co-creating the award-winning destination events Fire & Ice Festival and the new Winter Wonderlights. During her tenure, occupancy and lodging tax have soared, consistently boasting one of the highest occupancy rates in the state, and lodging tax has increased over 80% in the last 7 years without adding hotel rooms. 

Cindy graduated with her CDME certification from DMAI in 2016. In the same year Cindy was presented with the 2016 Governors Tourism Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution for the State of Colorado, Business Person of the Year by PRSA Colorado in 2018 and more. Cindy credits 100% of her success in her career with the ability to surround herself with amazingly creative, talented individuals.In her spare time, Cindy enjoys traveling the world and embarking on new adventures with the loves of her life, her amazing children Mackenzie and Andrew, and her husband Kirk of 21 years.

  • Have local ties that have had a most direct impact to the Loveland community
  • Have made professional achievements or significant contributions to the Loveland community
  • Have received awards and special recognitions
  • Embody the principles of community such as civic and community involvement and advancing causes for the community
  • Have made notable contributions to Loveland’s achievements
  • Have demonstrated loyalty to Loveland, to its businesses and residents, and to himself or herself
  • Have been part of historic moments in Loveland’s history
  • Other criteria as appropriately devised by the committee

Materials reviewed by the selection committee include:

  • A complete nomination form (see link below)

You may also include:

  • Letters of support – at least two, and one may be from the person making the nomination
  • A current resume of the candidate
  • Articles or publications that speak to the candidate’s qualifications
