Scare Hunger Away

By Tiffany Villavicencio

The Promenade Shops at Centerra

Loveland, CO – October 9, 2013 – The Promenade Shops at Centerra is making a difference this year at Halloween on the Promenade by scaring away hunger.  In addition to all of the great activities their event is known for, they are adding a food drive to benefit Kids Pak, a hunger relief program benefitting children in the Thompson School District.

Halloween on the Promenade will take over on Sunday, October 27th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm in front of Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery.  The event will include free horse-drawn hay rides, a petting zoo, dog-costume contest, games, activity stations, goody bags for kids in costumes and a pumpkin patch (all while supplies last).  Harrington Arts Academy will entertain the crowd with music, dancing and games.

To help scare away hunger, non-perishable food donations will be accepted during this event at the Kids Pak booth.  The registered dietician with the Food Bank for Larimer County oversees the Kids Pak program and is requesting donations of the following items:

  • Canned chicken packed in water (5oz cans)
  • Canned tuna packed in water (5oz cans)
  • Peanut butter (18oz)
  • Canned corn, no salt added (15oz cans)
  • Canned green beans, no salt added (15oz cans)

To thank you for your donation, individuals that donate five or more items from the above list will receive a free gift from The Promenade Shops at Centerra.

A dog costume contest, hosted by D.O.G.S. will begin at 2:00pm in front of Rock Bottom and will award prizes for the best costumes.

Door prizes will be awarded at the event and will include center-wide gift cards that are everywhere at The Promenade Shops at Centerra as well as other prizes.

All of the days’ activities are free while supplies last.  Be sure to bring your camera to take pictures of your little superheroes and princesses at the fall photo area.

For additional information on Halloween on the Promenade, please call The Promenade Shops at Centerra Management Office at 970-461-1285.

Please be sure to mark your calendar for the above event as The Promenade Shops at Centerra does not host trick-or-treating on October 31.

About Kids Pak
Launched in 2009 by the Rotary Club of Loveland, Kids Pak is a weekend hunger relief program for children in the Thompson School District and Berthoud. The program partners with each school in the District to provide much needed packs of food that meet the nutritional requirements for children. The program partners with the Food Bank for Larimer County to create a specific menu each week to meet these needs. Kids Pak currently serves 24 schools (elementary, middle and high schools) with approximately 325 packs of food each week.
