John Metcalf, Perfect Square

February 2010 Featured Monthly Investor

John Metcalf, Perfect Square

Ask around town and most residents will tell you how they feel about Loveland, Colo. Ask our Featured Monthly Investor for February and he’ll show you. As owner/founder of JM Designs, John Metcalf has expressed his enthusiasm for the Loveland community with a modern approach, by partnering with the Loveland Chamber to design the Sweetheart City logo and artwork that captures the true essence of some of Loveland’s most memorable landmarks. This includes Lake Loveland, Devil’s Backbone and Mariana Butte. Each image will be adorned on T-shirts, coffee mugs, posters and other merchandise available for purchase from the Loveland Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center and through its online store. Perhaps his remarkable aesthetic perception of the beloved city was inspired by his active involvement – and success – with the Loveland Chamber.

Within a month of opening his business, JM Designs, Metcalf made the decision to invest in the Loveland Chamber of Commerce. He is a true example of how to capitalize on available resources. Metcalf is chair of the Marketing Resource Committee, a member of B2B and Quick Net leads groups and a member of STIR Loveland, the young professionals group fostered by the Loveland Chamber of Commerce. He regularly attends Business after Hours and CyberChat events and was accepted into the 2011 Leadership Loveland class. In addition to the Sweetheart City Logo, Metcalf has contributed to the Chamber’s presence and vision by designing the NoCo Social Media Social logo (a Chamber-sponsored event) and co-designing the new Leadership Loveland logo along with Josh Emrich of The TenFold Collective.

According to Nicole Hegg, communication and events manager, “as someone who immediately chose to join the Chamber after establishing his business in Loveland, John is a true case study on how best to capitalize on the Chamber’s advantages. John asked questions and immediately became involved in order to make a difference with his business. He not only has a vision for business, but also for Loveland and is becoming an emerging Loveland Chamber leader.”

According to John Metcalf

“Originally, I joined for networking purposes—the goal was to just get my business name out in the community. However, I've found that building relationships and becoming involved in the community has been very exciting, all because of the connections through the Chamber. I advise prospective investors to get to know your Chamber staff; they're working hard for you. Don't just pitch your business; build relationships, get involved and meet people. Take advantage of the Chamber’s offerings, what you will gain is of irreplaceable value.”
